Leadership - It's a Marathon, Not a Sprint
The book really IS ‘everything you need to know about sustainable achievements'. The author dedicates it to a person who challenged him to run a marathon; something he never, ever thought he was capable of doing.
So what he has done is - used the 26 miles of the marathon to not only keep a diary of his progress; but also to link every single mile to the challenges of leadership.
Mile 1: The need to set big, bold beautiful goals
Mile 3: The power fo why
Mile 6: The importance of the 1st follower
Mile 13: What got you here won't get you there
Mile 19: Positive competition
Mile 23: Plan, plan - follow the plan
Mile 24: Redefining ‘possible'
So if you run marathons, you will totally identify with the highs and lows along that incredibly long 26 mile journey. Even if you've never run, and never plan to run a marathon, you will absolutely identify with the stages along the way of being a leader.
And the author sets the reader a challenge. He asks you to think about ‘What question do I have that I want this book to answer?' Because if you are willing to ask that question, he assures you the book WILL answer your question.
It is also designed to be one of those books you can read at one sitting or dip into every now and again. I suggest this will be one of those books you will keep handy for many years to come.
You'll notice that the story can be read in sequence but
