Social interaction when I was growing up was a picnic at the beach where face-­‐time was the norm and Facebook was yet to be invented! Everyone I knew,was ‘adopted' as part of my extended family and was lovingly referred to as 'Aunty' or ‘Uncle'. I remember boasting that I had two surrogate mothers - my Aunty Fairuz and my Aunty Souad - at my first wedding in London!
