According to Gallup research "Great managers are scarce because the talent required to be one is rare. They discovered that about one in 10 people possess high talent to manage,"
Amy Adkins writes in a Hubspot blog post. "Though many people have some of the necessary traits, few have the unique combination of talent needed to help a team achieve the kind of excellence that significantly improves a company's performance. Which is:
1. Motivational ability
4. Relationship building
5. Decision making skills"
If you are a manager - how would you rank yourself on those 5 areas? And if you didn't fare too well - don't panic - you can learn most of those attributes if you are 'motivated' enough. My suggestion would be to encourage managers in your sphere of influence to get themselves a coach or mentor - we can all benefit from one of those.
