The Corruption Perceptions IndexBy Guest WriterFREE The Fight Against Corruption Want to do business with another country? Check out their ‘corruption' status first. The 2010 Corruption Perceptions Index discusses the fact that governments around the world are committing huge sums to tackle the world's most pressing problems, from the instability of financial markets to climate change and poverty. Yet the index shows that nearly three quarters of the 178 countries in the index score below five, on a scale from 10 (very clean) to 0 (highly corrupt). These results indicate a serious corruption problem.
Not only an incredibly interesting read, but also a very valuable document for any business who wants to expand outside their own country. About the Creators of the Index: Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
