Programme overview:
The purpose of this half-day session will be to sharpen and enhance the skills required in providing you or your teams with effective appraisals. During the session delegates will:
- consider appraisals in the context of performance management
- examine the need and requirements for effective preparation
- review and explore effective techniques for communication and feedback
- reflect on effective practices for appraisal follow up
The programme is very interactive and focuses on appraisal in the context of leadership and performance management. It covers how appraisers and appraisees should prepare for appraisals; how to communicate and provide feedback during the appraisal, and how to draw up an action plan for the future.
The session is a commonsense, practical approach to appraisals, focusing not just on the needs of individual, but also on the needs of the organisation.
There are three components to the training pack:
- A comprehensive powerpoint presentation which can be personalized with the name of the person or organization who has purchased the license.
- A 16 page Activity Pack
- A Trainer's pack
The Activity Pack contains:
- Who's Who (an icebreaker)
- An appraisal questionnaire. This is a very comprehensive set of questions the appraisee needs to complete before they are appraised, including a self appraisal and an upward appraisal (how they feel their manager is supporting them) and an action form so the appraisee has given some thought to what they need to do differently.
- Appraisal briefing notes. These are for the appraiser. Tips on how to set the scene, how to introduce the session. Pre work that is required i.e. they must have gone through the appraisee's set of questions so they are fully prepared for the appraisee's comments.
- Personal Action Pad. What the appraise is going to do going forward
- Evaluation form (of the half day workshop)
The Trainer's Pack contains:
- A list of equipment required
- Handouts
- Course timetable
- A letter template to be sent pre course to the attendees
- Instructions for conducting the Icebreaker and a course game
- How to conduct the evaluation
- Trainer's notes/Lesson Plan
