When you ask for referrals are you a wimp?

We are coming up to the busiest period of the year for Western countries, we go into relax mode (which is great, it's been a tough year), but during the social events is a great time to network in readiness for NEXT year.

I'm probably one of the world's biggest wimps with regard to asking for referrals, but even over the holiday period, we could still find ourselves meeting people who know the exact people we would like to get in front of for 2010.
