What do you resist the most? And why?
I've just been speaking at an insurance conference and because I always go to any conference the day before I speak so I can mix and mingle and chat to people - I learned two very interesting things from two participants:
1. The older insurance brokers are totally resisting technology as a tool to be more efficient - one man actually told me he hates e.mail - so he has a secretary who prints off his e.mails - he reads them and then dictates his replies to her and she responds! Can you believe that????
2. One of the insurance broker's employees told me that her boss sits in his office all day playing online solitaire and basically lets his staff run everything. If they ask him a question - his response is 'you can sort it out'
Two very different styles of management for sure.
The topic of my presentation was 'The Space Between Trapezes' - basically a presentation about dealing with change; resistance to change and overcoming our fears.
