The 3 'S's' of a long and successful speaking career
I fell into professional speaking over 20 years ago - and over those years I have seen literally hundreds of hopefuls arrive at the doors of the National Speakers' Association of NZ (NSANZ) and I have seen most of them give up because it's all too hard.
To become a professional speaker is no different from becoming a professional anything, you have to work hard to become good. I know new people see the long term professionals on the stage and think it looks so easy, and then they hear the fees these people charge and get really excited - but gymnasts or sports people of any stature put hours and hours into practicing - and so it is with speaking - the easier it looks the more you can guarantee that person has spent years learning their trade.
