Finally it is happening - the first island nation having to be relocated!
The Carteret islands are having to be evacuated because of rising waters. Situated about 100km from the Solomon Islands in the Pacific, the island, which is only 1.5 metres above sea level estimates that the first 40 families will have to be evacuated over the next 6 months. In 5 years it is estimated that half the 2500 population will have to leave.....so sad! And who will take them in? ann
