As a man who loves a challenge he took on the opportunity to revive a waning territory for a labelling company and in 11 months wrote $1 million of industrial labelling business. He has held roles in talk back radio and for several years was a sports broadcaster.
John took on a Sales Manager position for a radio station in Perth Western Australia and instigated a 250% improvement in sales by focussing on customer’s needs. A novel idea in that industry, at that time.
Ever progressing he took on a role with a Courier company where within 18 months he doubled the size of the company and the fleet by once again developing professional sales processes that focussed on the customer’s needs. During this period he also created a goal setting process, which he delivered at the University of Western Australia.
John became known in New Zealand as the Bee Pollen man when he started a direct marketing company called ABEECO; advertising and shipping a bee pollen health supplement around the world. He set a goal of finding 12,000 customers in their first full year 1996. In fact he developed a database of 20,000 customers. Turnover of the business in 1997 was $2.8m
